It has been awhile since I have updated this blog. Life always seems to distract me from it, but I have some life updates to address. A few months ago I completed my undergraduate degree. The experience I gained from this course has been life changing. Before it started I didn’t know how to program and four years later I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Over my time at university I have not only gained new knowledge but discovered my passion for games development. The path to this point has been full of challenged but these challenges have given me the confidence in my own ability.
The year ended on a high, graduating with a 1st class degree with honours. I also achieved the highest average graduating mark within the entire Computer Science and Engineering School. This achievement means a lot. I always strive to produce the highest quality work I can and ensure that any challenge is presented I work to do the best that I possibly can. This award was confirmation of my achievement.
Throughout the summer I have been resetting ready for starting a masters course in a couple of weeks. I have worked on a number of projects and concepts behind the scenes but not many of these are ready to be talked about. The last year has been none stop and this it was important this summer to take a step back ready for the final push this next year. The masters course I have chosen is specifically in games development. The undergraduate course I was on was a object orientated computer science course. It focused on object orientated languages and taught me a broad set of skills. It had a game specialisation but this was perhaps 1/3 – 1/2 of the courses content. My internship gave me a lot of additional experience of games development, and I have spent a lot of time self developing. But the masters course helps me to ensure that I have a more specialised games development focus. Additionally I still have a avid interest in the subject and want to learn more.
As the course starts I will strive to keep these records up to date, describing the topics and project I am working on. I also will add the final versions of my coursework and dissertation project to this site. Thank you for taking the time to read this update, and be sure I will be posting again soon.
